Research Corridor Staff

Dr. Delore Zimmerman, Executive Director

Delore has served as the Executive Director of the Red River Valley Research Corridor since 2004. He is President of Praxis Strategy Group an economic research, strategy and development company in Grand Forks and Fargo, North Dakota. He is a strategist with over twenty-five years of domestic and international experience working with leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs from the business, government and education sectors.

As a research principal investigator he has been awarded eight Small Business Innovation Research awards to develop leading-edge practices and tools for use by development professionals and community leaders to work more effectively with entrepreneurs and to build competitive, innovation-based economies. He co-developed the High-Performance Community Initiative while a Senior Fellow at the Denver-based Center for the New West at a time when the Center coined and popularized the concept of “lone eagle” entrepreneurs.

He is the co-founder of Praxis Africa an agricultural media and farm enterprise development company headquartered in Accra, Ghana. He has also worked in Wales, England and South Korea advising regional technology and development organizations and has worked with business groups from Russia in agricultural processing and construction to advise them on productivity and competitive strategies.

Delore is a native of Wishek, North Dakota. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of North Dakota and a doctoral degree from the Pennsylvania State University where his work focused on the mobilization of territorial-based alliances for economic development.

Ryan Aasheim, Associate

Ryan has served on the staff of the Red River Valley Research Corridor since January 2011. He is an Associate with Praxis Strategy Group an economic research, strategy and development company in Grand Forks and Fargo, North Dakota.

Prior to joining the Research Corridor and Praxis Strategy Group, Ryan served as Economic Development Director for U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan. During this time, Ryan worked closely with community and state leaders, economic developers, industry executives, university officials and high tech research interests to advance a wide variety of projects that include Research Corridor companies and programs. He served as advisor to the Senator on issues concerning economic development activities, community projects, university research, commercialization and technology transfer efforts, flood and disaster situations, and other public policy issues.

During his time working directly and indirectly with the Research Corridor, Ryan has been involved in the organization and hosting of over 20 major industry focused Research Corridor “Action Summits”. Other work involves facilitating and consulting companies, universities, and other organizations on matters that involve federal appropriations, defense and federal procurement, General Services Administration contract schedule, SBA preferred contracting programs, and numerous federal and state grant programs.

Ryan has also spent time in the nonprofit sector, coordinating a multi-state rural development initiative, and in the private sector in supply chain management and procurement outsourcing.

Ryan is a native of Bottineau, North Dakota. He received his degree in business administration and minor in accounting from North Dakota State University.
